Tuesday Things + Upcoming Vacation

Last night I went to a horrifically sweaty Bikram yoga class. I know that when you sign up for Bikram it’s going to be hot, but listen, sometimes it’s lovely and other times it’s unbearable. Last night was one of those classes when I was bent over doing a pose, my sweat was dripping off my sports bra like a fountain. Gross. I made it through the class feeling ok, I didn’t skip any poses and while all my poses may have not been beautiful, I did them so that should count for something.

I’m trying to get to yoga once a week and this is a challenge with my 4x a week cycling classes. Mondays at 8pm have been a good time for me but by the time I get home it’s super late and I’m exhausted, but also disgustingly sweaty, requiring an immediate shower. Despite getting into bed close to midnight, I forced myself up this morning for a run. I stayed in bed for about 30 minutes with that internal struggle between getting a few more minutes of sleep or getting my butt out to Central Park. 

Eventually I made my way to the outside world, starting my run at 7:15am and did an okay 5-mile run around the park. My calf has been hurting recently and started to act up at the end of the run but after some stretching I think it’s ok.

There are two main reasons I forced myself out of bed, one- I’m running a half marathon next weekend and oh lord, I am not prepared. I ran six miles about 3 weeks ago and then my 5-miler today. So yea, that is going to be a painful race. The second reason is I’m going to New Orleans this weekend! I’ve never been and have been told it’s all about the food so I expect to go crazy and eat a lot. I’m going to try to fit in some exercise but the food will most definitely outweigh (literally) the calorie burn.
