Fall Activities: Apple Picking

September 22, 2014

Every year my girlfriends and I head upstate for apple picking and a creamery visit. This year we decided to be nice and invite the boys along.

First we made a stop to see our friends C&S’s new (and gorgeous!) house in Westchester. It’s one of my first friends to make the transition to a house in the ‘burbs and while I’m not ready for that step quite yet, their house was so beautiful and makes a city girl envious.

Then it was off to the farm. We went to Stuart’s Fruit Farm which is a good size; smaller than where we’ve gone in the past, but in a good way.

After apple picking it’s tradition to have cider donuts….not for me this year. Apple picking took place on day 20 of Whole30 so no sweets for me.

Instead, I went to the fruit and veggie stand and got these heirloom tomatoes, not a donut but still delicious!

And now the yearly question, what do I do with 75 apples? I’m thinking apple sauce, baked apples, apples and almond butter. I’ll have to come up with a few more ideas, please send recipes my way!
