Central Park Runners & Bikers Beware

July 12, 2012

I just heard this crazy piece of news. Someone put a row of thumbtacks along the Central Park loop (up North), causing more than a dozen cyclists to get flat tires, leading some of them to crash. It’s suspected to be a disgruntled runner. As someone who runs and bikes in Central Park, I definitely see the rivalry between the two, and this makes me nervous. People tend to get very competitive during their morning workouts, bikers yell at runners, runners yell back at bikers, everyone is in everyone’s way. When you live in a place like NYC, Central Park is THE place to work out, parks are hard to come by so CP can become over crowded.

I know it can be hard to share the path, but we all need to get along and respect everyone’s workout and safety!
