Getting married is an exciting time that should be enjoyed, feeling your best. Unfortunately, along with your ring, comes wedding planning and prep stress. Basically the day MM and I got engaged, we were asked when and where was the wedding going to be. I immediately felt overwhelmed (and guilty for all times I’ve asked new brides the same thing!). How do you pick a venue and a date and hire all those vendors and do the other thousands of things a bride needs to do PLUS, how do you stay calm and feel good doing it? I allowed myself to feel very stressed out for about two weeks and then reminded myself that a wedding is FUN and prepping for it should be too. I should feel excited, lucky and beyond happy that I get the opportunity to throw a wedding, I shouldn’t feel down and overwhelmed thinking about it. The process is only as stressful as you make it, and my goal is to stay cool and be as un-bridezilla-like as possible (we can all check in with my mom in a few months and see how I’m doing).

To keep myself and fellow brides out there on track, I’m launching the Wedding Wellness series. Each month I’ll cover a wedding topic from a health and wellness perspective. When we think about getting ready for a wedding, many brides immediately freak out about how to lose 10 pounds and look the best they’ve ever looked in their entire lives. And hey, I can’t really disagree, we all want to look and feel our best on that special day, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to get there. Getting ready for your wedding is about managing your physical and mental health and in this series we’ll cover getting fit for the wedding, plus we’ll go way beyond that, getting into dress fittings, skin care, dealing with stress and much more.

I’ve helped my friends get ready for their wedding days and now that it’s my turn, I’ll share the experience with all of you. And while this info may be particularly helpful for brides, it can be applied to my other readers as well so please follow along!

Is there anything in particular you’d like me to highlight in this series? Comment below and we’ll make sure to have all of our bases covered before the big day.
