A Much-Needed Check-In for 2020 & Looking Ahead to 2021

December 2, 2020

Hi friends, it’s been a while! If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you already know I go through a lot of ups and downs with posting, sometimes I pop in often and other times it’s months between posts. This time around it’s been months.

And not to be dramatic, but many huge aspects of my life have changed since my last post in August. I’m going to get right to it and hop into some thoughts as we move into the new year. Here we go!

I’m pregnant again!

Yep, baby #2 is on the way, coming early Spring of 2021. Millie is still my little baby and I can’t believe she’s going to be a big sister so soon. The kids will be 21 months apart which I’m sure will be chaotic and amazing at the same time (probably more chaotic in the beginning though).

We moved! (sort of)

Well, we definitely moved out of Portland, OR, we just haven’t quite moved in anywhere yet. Because of many factors, we decided to move back to the east coast to be closer to friends and family. It was bittersweet leaving Portland because we really did love it. However due to the pandemic, feeling super isolated, and not being able to travel regularly to see people, it felt like it was time to head back east to where we have a built in community. We’re now on the east coast sort of bouncing around as we try to figure out our next steps. More on this soon I hope!

I wrote a book!

Every little subhead I’m writing in this post ends with an exclamation point, but they all seem worthy of this! Earlier this year I was approached to write a book about pregnancy and it’s now available for pre-order, with a release date of December 15 (so soon!). It really was an opportunity that came out of nowhere, was very exciting, and moved incredibly quickly. My entire manuscript was due just 6 weeks after I was approved to move forward with the project. And now, a few months later I’m holding an actual copy in my hands. Wild! If you are pregnant or have any pregnant friends, I would love for you to consider buying this book, your support means so much to me. You can order it on Amazon, at Target, and wherever most books are sold.

Looking Ahead to the New Year

I would say those are the three big events that have taken place in the last few months. It’s been a hectic end to a really weird year and I know I’m not alone when I say I’m looking forward to 2021.

I’ve always been a proponent of new years resolutions, and I did write a handful for 2020. I think we can all agree that we get a do-over for any resolutions we set for this past year. Reading over my list for 2020, I’m not entirely sure I completed any of them. And that’s OK. I’m still TBD on goals for 2021, especially with so much uncertainty, but I am taking some time to set goals for myself both personally and professionally. In general, I hope to be hopping on here more and connecting with you!

Curious, are you setting resolutions this year? Are you simply trying to get your 2020 resolutions back on track as we head into the new year? Or will you just buckle up and see where 2021 takes us?
