Healthier Home: 3 Subscriptions I Use for a Healthy Kitchen

November 16, 2018

subscriptions for your home

When I was living in Europe I desperately missed my grocery store standbys and my foodie memberships. One of the first things I did upon returning to the US and securing a new address was re-activate two of my favorite memberships (Imperfect Produce and Thrive Market) and signed up for a new one that I kept seeing my favorite bloggers use (Butcher Box).

All three of these subscriptions offer the best of the best when it comes to ingredients. I’m talking grass-fed, organic, non-GMO, you get the picture. They also make life easier since it cuts down on visits to speciality grocery stores for those more obscure items. And the pricing is really good.

If you want to add ease to your weekly routine and get some deals along the way, here are the three membership I use for a healthier kitchen.

Three Subscriptions for a Healthy Kitchen

Produce Subscription: Imperfect Produce

Ugly fruit doesn’t mean bad fruit! Imperfect Produce rescues weird or oddly shaped fruits and veggies and delivers them to your door. Honestly, most of the produce looks completely normal to me. And it’s all really good and fresh. You can choose fruit, veggies or both, organic or not, plus you can completely customize your box if you prefer. Part of me likes getting surprised by what’s in the box and an opportunity to be introduced to new produce, but I actually prefer selecting my items so I can brainstorm recipes for the weeks ahead.

Meat Subscription: Butcher Box

This one is new to me but a really exciting one. Butcher Box delivers (frozen) high quality meat to your door. Butcher Box has you covered with recipes and cooking tips on their site in the event that any of the cuts are new to your kitchen. You can choose from Beef & Pork, Beef & Chicken, Mixed, All Beef, or a custom box. You can also choose delivery every 3o or 60 days, prices start at $129. At first it seemed expensive and it kind of is, but after receiving our first box I can report back that it is a TON of meat. I’m doing the every 60 days option and I’m happy with that quantity because I don’t cook meat every night and like to mix it up with fish and veggie meals. I like that I can trust that the meat is humanely raised, has no antibiotics or hormones and is of the highest quality. I’ll admit that prior to this I didn’t typically select the best quality from the grocery store.

Click Butcher Box and use this link for free bacon in every box for the life of your membership. That’s potentially a lot of bacon!

All-Things Kitchen Subscription: Thrive Market

Thrive is like an organic grocery store on-demand. It has a huge array of snacks, sauces, and various ingredients that I love, plus they are usually priced lower than what you’ll find at Whole Foods or wherever you buy your gluten free, paleo, no-sugar added goodies. To make things easy, you can filter by diet (paleo, vegan, organic, etc). I’ve discovered tons of snacks on Thrive and literally buy everything from salad dressing to tomato sauce to dried fruit. You can try Thrive Market free for 30 days, then there is a yearly membership fee of $59.99. I promise you make the money back because their prices are lower and you’ll get free shipping on all orders over $49. Oh and sometimes they offer freebies in your box! And lastly, every membership you buy gives a membership to a low income family.
