Letting Loose and What Not

November 11, 2013

After completing the NYC Marathon last Sunday I told myself I’d get a freebie week. I still taught 3 spin classes but due to soreness and blisters I worked up a minimal sweat & didn’t get nearly the type of work out I’m used to.  I decided to allow myself a little recovery time after going from training for 4 months for the NYC Tri directly into training for 4 months for the NYC Marathon. For the past week I wasn’t concerned with working out and let myself eat pretty much whatever I felt like. I didn’t go totally crazy (for example, brunch was still an egg white omelet instead of indulging in pancakes), but I wasn’t thinking as much about what I was eating and had my fair share of sweets and treats.

8 days later, I don’t feel good! Even though it was only a week, abandoning my healthy habits has me feeling very blah. Today is the first day I’m back on the healthy bandwagon and after a week of being off of it, I’m extra motivated to make healthy choices.

As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m a fan of the Paleo lifestyle but I have a hard time sticking to it. Once I really get into it I’m ok, but jumping back in has its challenges.

To get myself (and MM) back into it, I’m finding good looking recipes for inspiration (thanks to PaleOMG, Nom Nom Paleo, Paleo Plan & Cave Girl in the City)  and making a shopping list.

How do you motivate yourself to get back to healthy habits?
