This morning was perfect running weather at 67 degrees. I tackled a 10-miler, the longest mid-week run on my marathon training plan (Week 8!), and let me tell you, 10 miles before week is no joke. I hit Central Park at 6:45am and did a big loop with a mini loop in the middle at the reservoir.

I’m not one to wake up early to eat before a run so I brought along a new energy pouch to try- the Power Bar Performance Energy Blend, Apple Mango Strawberry flavor. I wasn’t too hungry but ate this at about mile 5 since my energy was running low. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was pretty tasty. It’s made from real fruit so it’s more natural than what you’d get from other energy fuels like gu, but I wouldn’t call it 100% natural either. It was the consistency of applesauce and fairly sweet. I didn’t LOVE it, but it was decent. If you like applesauce, you’d probably love this as a pre or mid-run fuel.

So far I’m doing ok energy-wise but 10-miles before work is rough and I have a feeling it’s going to hit me hard in a few hours…
