Getting myself to tri swim practice is hard. And I mean really heard. I’m not the biggest fan of swimming so that, combined with our pool being located on 145th street and practices starting at 8:30pm (meaning I don’t get home until well after 10pm) means it takes everything in me to drag myself to practice.

Last night I was in an off-mood, really wanting to skip practice. Knowing I’m out of town for the next practice I made myself go; and wow, I’m actually happy I did. Practice consisted of a mile snake swim (as you swim laps and snake your way around the pool you’ll probably get kicked and will kick other people, just like in the race) and it was our first chance at swimming a full mile nonstop. I got through it and found a rhythm along the way, relaxing and enjoying the swim. Practice was quick- in the water, swim a mile (ok, this actually took a while), and we were done. Surprisingly I left the pool in a better mood then when I got there, unexpected but great!

(above is a pic on my way to practice, way way way uptown)
