Ride Recap: NYC Century Tour

September 14, 2012

Last Sunday Sara, Matt and I took on 55 miles through NYC. Our ride started at the top of Central Park, traveled down and around Brooklyn, over to Queens and back to the top of Central Park to finish. The ride was a pleasant one with perfect weather and a nice course that wasn’t too hilly. We did travel over quite a few bridges which at times was scary, but for the most part I was relaxed enough to enjoy the view.

Because this ride spans so many miles, no roads are actually shut down for the bikers which isn’t great since riding in NY traffic is not fun, but we mainly stuck to quieter roads so it wasn’t much of a problem. I do have to commend the people running the NYC Century ride on having delicious food at each of our stops. Everything was really tasty, meaning I likely consumed more calories that day than I burned, oh well!

Last time I did this ride I did the 100-mile course and it was so hard that I wasn’t able to enjoy myself. This more manageable ride was great, but now of course I want to push myself a little farther and next time try for a longer route. Hope that Matt & Sara will be on board to join me!
