Mother Daughter Spa Weekend at The Lodge at Woodloch

Over the weekend my mom and I headed 2 hours north of NYC to the Poconos for a relaxing spa getaway at The Lodge at Woodloch. The lodge is a true spa experience, something I’d never had before. I’ve been to resorts that have a spa area but this is a full-on spa, aka heaven. The property includes guest rooms, a restaurant, a gym complete with a long list of classes, treatment rooms, an outdoor jacuzzi, multiple indoor jacuzzis (one with a waterfall), a steam room, a sauna, plenty of rooms with roaring fire places and comfy couches and basically all the spa getaway amenities one would need. If this sounds like perfection, well that’s because it is.

My mom and I arrived at the lodge around 11am on Saturday and explored the grounds. What’s nice is that everything is accessible inside the lodge, so in the winter you never have to step outside if you don’t want to. There are cleared hiking trails but that’s something I’d save for a visit during slightly warmer months.

We had an an early lunch at Tree, the on-site restaurant. All meals are included in your stay at the lodge, it was a spa-like menu but still offered tasty and hearty options. We enjoyed the extensive salad bar and had the bison burger. I also had the sport iced tea which was delish. Since this is a spa atmosphere, everything was super low key; everyone was either wandering around in a robe or gym clothes, my kinda place!

Post lunch we hit up the gym which has pretty much everything you could need. After the gym we were off to the spa area to hang out. First we spent some time in the outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the snowy woods, then jumped around between the inside jacuzzi water fall and the sauna. Next up we each had a 75 minute deep tissue massage;it was fantastic. Next we stopped by the “Whisper Lounge” an area with comfy chairs and a fireplace meant for relaxation post-massage where you had to whisper if you wanted to speak. This room and others throughout the lodge had infused water, tea, trail mix and fresh fruit.

We then spent more time relaxing until dinner. Dinner was once again at Tree, we had a 4-course meal and it was really good! There were healthy options as well as some less-healhty options but all the ingredients were fresh and tasty and the staff was super attentive.

After dinner we read by one of the cozy fireplaces before turning in for the night. Our agenda for Sunday was supposed to be trying out one of the fitness classes (they offer a ton) but unfortunately for us, the snow started falling early in the Poconos. The roads to the lodge aren’t the best, it’s on the rustic side and we were nervous about getting stuck so we left the lodge at 7am to head back to the city. Not the way we wanted to end our trip but the snow didn’t slow down so this was the right choice!

While brief, our visit to The Lodge at Woodloch was amazing and I highly recommend it! It’s an easy 2-hours from NYC, making it the perfect getaway for one or two nights. You feel extremely removed from city life so if you need to escape the hustle and bustle, check this place out. I’d recommend it for a girls weekend, a mother/daughter getaway and also for couples. If you want a low key and relaxing bachelorette destination, this would be perfect.

Because of our short visit we didn’t have a chance to take advantage of all the offerings at Woodloch, to name a few: cooking demos, spin class, core fushion, yoga, drawing, power napping (seriously, how did I not try this?) and so on, meaning I’ll need to make it up there again to try everything!

The Lodge at Woodloch was everything I’d hope for in a spa weekend and hopefully another visit is the near future for me. Thanks for having us!
