Beach-Friendly Workouts

July 18, 2012

This weekend a bunch of us are heading to Fire Island to celebrate C-Lo’s upcoming wedding! When I think Bachelorette Weekend (and Fire Island for that matter) I can’t help but think: FOOD, DRINKING, PARTYING. And yes, that is what’s going to happen, but there is also time to fit in a couple of workouts as well. Even as we enjoy our long weekend by the beach, there is no excuse for not workout. With nothing on our agenda, we can easily fit in an hour of fitness each day.

The beach allows for a beautiful and challenging run. As someone who regularly runs in NYC, a beach run is something I look forward to. Along with running, I’m coming prepared with a couple of conditioning workouts for the bride-to-be and anyone else who wants to join us.

Conditioning Workout #1:

  • Warm Up: 1 Mile Run
  • Speed Set: 1 Mile Run (20 Seconds Sprint, 20 Seconds Recover, repeat for 1 mile)
  • 10 Push Up Crawls (per side, alternating)
  • 10 Tuck Jumps
  • 40 Walking Lunges
  • 50 Crunches
  • 1 Minute Break (then repeat)
  • Cool Down: 1 Mile Run

Conditioning Workout #2

  • Warm Up: 1 Mile Run
  • Complete the below moves, each move for 60 seconds (as many reps as you can) then move immediately on to the next move without a break. After completing all 8 moves, take a 1-2 minute break and then repeat. Do the whole set 3 times
  • Cool Down: 1 Mile Run

I did Conditioning Workout #2 last night and let me tell you, Move 2: Squat Jumps will really get you!
