My Weekend in Photos:
Even though it can be a hassle, I LOVE the snow. I know it becomes a slushy gross mess within a few hours in NYC but before it does, I just love a snowy winter day. This Saturday we got a few inches (which was quickly washed away with the evening rain) and it made for a nice low-key weekend.
Even though it’s cold out, our heat is going full blast (and we have no control over it, so that’s fun) but at least that means I can still enjoy a nice green smoothie even when it’s 15 degrees out. This smoothie is perfect pre- or post-workout: a frozen banana, cup of frozen strawberries, half a cup frozen mango, 2 cups fresh spinach, quarter cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, half cup cold water, 3 ice cubes and 1 scoop Perfect Fit Vanilla protein powder blended until smooth.
After the smoothie I bundled up for the 2-block walk to the gym (I’m lucky I live so close). Pictured: Lululemon Scuba Hoodie, Lululemon Ruffle Run Top (a few years old), Lululemon Speed Tight Tech, Sorel Boots, Target Merona headband.
Then I hit up a 75-minute spin class. While a decent workout, cycling for that long can become boring, plus knowing the class is so long makes me not work as hard (fear of burn-out mid-class) so while I’m glad I tried it out, I don’t plan on returning).
Came home to a very snowy backyard. Even though most of NYC has lost its snow by now, our yard is still pretty and white.
Despite the snow and rain we were headed to a friends for dinner and what better treat to contribute than Levain cookies. The bakery is right by our apartment and in my opinion, they are the best cookies…anywhere. If you find yourself on the UWS, do yourself a favor and get one.
Sunday was for time with girlfriends. Brunch with the college girls at Grey Dog in Chelsea-my first time there and I highly recommend it.
And finally, Sunday evening was for a tough conditioning workout class followed by a night in with the tri girls. Love Actually on DVD, home-cookin’ by Hayley, brownies and good friends, what better way is there to end a weekend?
