And now we move on to the San Francisco Highlights from our trip out west! With only a day and a half in the city, we did a lot of walking around and sightseeing. On our way back from Sonoma we stopped in Sausalito, took in the view, then headed over the Golden Gate Bridge. There is a park on the San Fran side of the bridge where you can get a perfect view.
I had received a bunch of recommendations of where to eat and what to do in the city and we did our best to fit everything in. Highlights include taking a quick peek at Alcatraz, seeing the seals at the pier, walking up and down the hilly streets and seeing all the cute houses, ice cream at Bi-Rite, a visit to Tartine Bakery and dinner at The Slanted Door (the photos I took do not do the place justice so I’m leaving them out but if you’re in the area, you should go).
We stayed at two hotels, The Prescott and The Fairmont. Both were really great so they will get their owns posts soon.
Overall, I’d say we did quite well for our limited time in the city. We got a serious workout going up and down the hills and according to my Jawbone UP we walked over 18 miles in two days. We were a bit confused by the public transportation and while we used it a bit, for the most part we walked. It was exhausting but luckily we had perfect weather and we were able to do everything on our San Fran check list.
Next up: where to stay in San Fran plus highlights from our trip to LA!
