The Skimm + Strong Abs

Are you guys signed up for The Skimm? Each morning you’ll get a short email with a few big news stories. They are humorously written, making it informative but fun and quick to read. I will admit that I am never up-to-date on current affairs, but this helps.

The email comes around 6am; what I’ve been doing is reading it while at the gym, doing a plank. The email takes about 2 minutes to read. In terms of a news recap, 2 minutes is nothing. In terms of a plank, 2 minutes is forever, but having something to read as opposed to thinking about your burning abs and staring at a timer totally helps!

So sign up for The Skimm and try to do a plank each morning as you read. If you can’t hold your plank for the entire read, take a break and then resume. With practice you’ll eventually be able to hold longer planks, taking you all the way through the newsletter.

You can switch between a front and side plank or toss in some hip dips along the way. Here are 15 Plank Variations to try, although the simpler, more standard front plank makes for easier reading.
