I started Whole30 (don’t know what it is? check out details here) on September 1st and today marks 1/3 of the way through. I’ve got to say, I really like the eating plan. I’ve only come across a few challenging meals (during my triathlon and going out to eat) but with proper planning and cooking at home I’ve been successful thus far on the plan.
The plan consists of cutting out sugar (fruit is ok), dairy, legumes, grains and alcohol, for more details, click here. To put it simply, Whole30 is a strict Paleo diet for 30 days. In addition, you are supposed to avoid snacking and instead stick to 3 meals a day, big enough to keep you satisfied.
Snacking is my biggest issue but I’ve been curbing my impulses and sticking to smaller and fewer snacks each day. Also, all my snacks are real food like fruit, veggies or nuts.
If you want to read more about my Whole30 experience and what I’m eating each day, you can visit this little spin off site. I’ve made some delish meals so take a look and get inspiration for your next kitchen experiment.
Today is my first day at a new job and I’m not sure how my eating will go but I certainly won’t have the time at home to take multiple trips to the grocery store (getting to go to Trader Joe’s during off-peak hours was a major plus of a week off work!) and meal prep. I’m going to put more thought into what I’m having for each meal so I can be prepared.
I don’t feel like a new person quiet yet but I feel healthy, satisfied and it feels really good to know that I’m putting real food into my body. When you go shopping with a close eye on ingredients it’s scary what we consume without realizing it.
[this remains one of my favorites things from the last week, I sorta want to eat it every day]
