Last night I attended a 45 minute spin class at Flywheel. I’m always apprehensive about fancy/expensive gym classes, but I have to say, I was very impressed! The room was nice and dark, with not too much air going, just the way I like it. A bonus is that they offer free bottles of water which is just a nice little thing to add since the classes are pricy. The bikes were stadium seated so everyone around the room could see the instructor. A fun part of the ride is a leader board (optional to join) that says where you stand in the class. I thought the board would be a bigger part of the class but it was only turned on about 4 times for 5-10 seconds each time.
The instructor was tough and beacuse the bikes show your resistence level and your RPM (rotations per minute) you really know how hard you are working. If the instructor says turn your resistence to 25 and get an RPM of 85, you know exactly when you’re slacking and when you’re fighting.

While I’ll by no means become a Flywheel regular (teaching 6 spin classes per week is plenty for me!), it was a fun experience and it’s always nice to see other other instructor’s style.
