Seasonal Breakfast Option

October 11, 2012

MM and I are big fans of anything pumpkin flavored so when he came across Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Flavored Greek Yogurt he bought a week’s worth. Just had my first one this morning and as expected, it is delicious! My only complaint is that there is a lot of sugar in this 8oz container, 23 grams. To give you some perspective, two Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups have 20 grams of sugar. The yogurt has 190 calories which is a great amount to consume for breakfast, but I’m still not a fan of the sugar amount.

If you want a pumpkin-flavored breakfast without all the sugar, here is what I recommend: Take plain 0% fat Greek Yogurt (Trader Joe’s version has 6 grams of sugar) and mix in cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and nutmeg. Still not pumpkin-y enough for you? Add a dollop of Libby’s 100% Pure Pumpkin which only has 4 grams of sugar per serving. Almost the same thing with way less sugar!
