This week is dragging, right? I have no right to complain though, Monday was a holiday and tomorrow I’m taking off the day to go skiing. Not sure how a 3-day week can feel quite this long but over here, the weekend can’t come soon enough.
This week I sort-of started training for my June Ironman 70.3 I made a schedule and was all set to get going. I wrote out my first month of work (I’ll be working with a virtual coach soon but that hasn’t kicked off yet) so in the meantime I’ve got this:
I had every intention to get these workouts in but that didn’t go as planned. On Monday I did run for 40 mins and while that doesn’t sound like a huge accomplishment, for me this week it was. I haven’t been running much at all so getting out for 40 mins was a big deal. I averaged an 8:50 pace around Central Park so for my first run out, I’ll call that a win. My body was confused by the running and was sore for days but I’m confident I’ll get my running back on track in no time (remember when I ran a marathon? why am I sore after 40 mins?)
I taught three cycling classes so I got some bike time in but as training really gets going I’m going to make an effort to spend more time on the bike outside of my classes. I get a workout while teaching but I’m not able to push as hard as I should for training since I also need to be able to talk and lead the class.
As for the swimming, whoops! I had my swim suit and gear all ready to go but the night I was scheduled to swim I got invited last minute to a crazy fancy amazing dinner at the Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare. I actually had a conflict because I was teaching class that night so I missed half of the dinner yet was still full. I can’t even imagine what i would have felt like if I was able to make it for all 20 courses (yes, a 20 course meal).
Sooo yea. I wouldn’t say training has technically kicked off but here’s hoping that next week I get in more tri-focused workouts so when training does officially begin I’ll be ready.
As for the rest of this week, I’m going skiing so my fitness will all take place on the slopes of Okemo.
And that note, here’s the cutest pup in the world to cheer up your Thursday.
