A couple of winters ago I was snowboarding and texting on my iPhone (very cautiously!) while on the chair lift. I did this infrequently for fear that I’d drop my cell phone, never to be seen from again. Typically I try to keep my phone in my pocket but when trying to meet up with friends on the mountain, sometimes you need to take it out and text. That winter I thought of some sort of leash to connect your phone to your jacket…
Clearly I didn’t do anything with my idea, and then a couple of weeks ago I was alerted that this product exists! The Kenu Highline Security Leash & Protectic Case to the rescue! I just upgraded to the iPhone6 and wanted to protect it as best I could, so the timing was perfect. I tried out the leash this weekend at Sugarbush and it was exactly what I needed!
The Highline comes with a basic black case and a removable bungee leash that connects to the phone via the charging port and then loops around whatever you want, I looped it into my pocket zipper key chain. The way the leash clicks into the phone is super secure, I wasn’t worried about losing it on the chair lift, even when juggling gloves, goggles and the phone.
[giving it a test run at the bottom of the mountain, also please note it was about 0 degrees and thus why I look like this]
I was even able to film while snowboarding, for just a quick second and then I got scared I’d fall and my phone would die in the snow (although I did catch MM taking a fall into the trees on the left side of the screen hehe). Check out the video at the end of the post…one day I’ll learn to film the correct way with an iPhone (but not today!).
A new thing I learned this weekend is to put your phone somewhere extra warm while skiing. Previously I put it in my side pocket and by the end of the day my phone would either die or turn off because of the cold. By putting my phone in my upper interior pocket, it stayed charged and alive the entire day.
I’m a fan of this leash, it’s a simple design and good product for active people who want to use their phones on the go. I’m planning to use this while running outside as well, I often pull my phone out of my pocket mid-run and with this leash I won’t have to worry if I accidentally drop it.
You can purchase the Kenu Highline leash HERE, $29.95 for the iPhone 6, also available for 4/4S, 5/5S, 6Plus
