30 Days Until 30

April 2, 2015

Today welcomes in a new month and more importantly (and scarily!) we are exactly 30 days out from when I turn 30. About two and a half years ago I made a 30 Before 30 List and oh man, time is really running out. I’ve come to terms that not everything will be completed. I purposely made the list challenging and I’m not surprised that I couldn’t squeeze all 30 things in. Luckily, I have a “life list” too and some of these will just have to be scooted over to there. Over the next 30 days I’ll take you through mini recaps of the items I’ve checked off.

[for my 30th I really want gold balloons, will one of you please make that happen for me?]

Before we get to what I’ve accomplished, here’s what I haven’t yet done:

  1. Tough Mudder or Warrior Dash-type race
  2. Take a cross-country road trip
  3. Write a book
  4. Break a 7 minute mile
  5. Own a pair of Louboutins
  6. Go to a sushi conveyor belt restaurant
  7. Learn to properly use my camera
  8. Visit Niagara Falls

Clearly I should be able to check off a few more items before the month ends. Um hello, go to a sushi conveyor belt resto is the dumbest and easiest item on this list and I haven’t done it yet. I mean come, run a marathon was on my list and I did that before going to a sushi restaurant. Other items I should be able to do- break a 7 minute mile. I actually haven’t even tried this or timed myself so I just need to go out and run fast for a few minutes, should be fine right? I need to schedule a private session with a photographer to lean how to use my camera and I suppose I could drop the $$ on Louboutins. To be honest, I put that on the list years ago and don’t know if I care to spend the money. I can afford them, but I can think of other things better suited for my hard earned money. In fact, a while back I was about to buy a pair and instead booked a flight to Costa Rica, money well-spent if you ask me. Cross-country road trip and writing a book may take just a bit more time than alloted in April. Tough Mudder/obstacale races have been on my radar but they’ve never made it on my race schedule because I’m always worried about getting injured in that race while training for a more serious one (like the marathon or one of the many triathlons). Niagara Falls, I still want to go just haven’t been in a hurry to get there.

Check back in over the next 30 days to see how I’m doing as I approach the big 3-0!
