Weekly Wins coming atcha! A look back at what made the last week a good one.

1. Taking major advantage of our outdoor space, MM and I are hosting as many BBQ’s as we can this summer. Thursday’s called for a bittersweet goodbye gathering for our friends J & J who are moving to LA soon. It was a perfect evening with friends, food and even some roasted marshmallows.

2. Saturday morning I woke up at 6:20am to head out for my weekly long run. My schedule called for 14 miles but when two coworkers invited me to join their long run it seemed way more appealing than running for 2 hours solo. We set out to do 16 miles but ended up doing 17. It was an awesome run. Not too intense which made me enjoy it and not feel exhausted at any point. Saturday was Summer Streets in NYC (7-miles worth of NYC are shut down to cars) so we ran from Central Park (with a 4 mile loop in the park) down along Summer Streets, over the Brooklyn Bridge and then back up to the park. The pace wasn’t what I’d normally keep while running solo. We were going at a good speed (somewhere in the 9’s) but also stopped a few times for water here and there so while it wasn’t my fastest run, it felt amazing and gave me a confidence boost for the impeding 26.2 miles. Plus it was my longest run. EVER.

3. After my run and 2 afternoon naps, MM and I (with another couple) headed out to City Island. Do you people know about this place?! We heard good things about the tiny island located about 40 mins from the UWS but never ventured out there. If you are a seafood lover, go there NOW! City Island is about 1.5 miles long and filled to the brim with seafood restaurants. We hit up The Lobster House, located right on the water and we ate more seafood than I’ve ever had in my life. Such a fun night out, it reminded me that even in a city I’ve lived in for 6 years, there are tons of hidden gems I need to explore.
