It’s been a while but I wanted to get back on here, so here I am! Instead of trying to recap the last several months, I’m sharing 5 fun new things that are happening around here. If you’re curious what’s going on in my life, here’s a small snapshot.
1. Ezra is One!
I can’t believe how quickly the past year went. It seems like just yesterday I was prepping for my induction and now here we are, one year of life with baby Ezra. While I’ll admit there were some stressful moments of life with two under two and trying to juggle the care of two little ones, it has been a really great year. And I think that going from zero kids to one was harder than going from one to two. Ezra is really on the move these days so I’m excited to see what the next stage of life will be like with my two kiddos.
I made these custom cookies with a kit from Baketivity to serve at his little first birthday party. How cute are they? They were so easy to do and look pretty professional in my humble opinion.
2. Working on Home Updates and New Design Work
We’ve been in our house for a little over a year, which is hard to believe. I was close to giving birth when we moved in so the goal was to find a home that didn’t need a lot of immediate work since we knew we wouldn’t have the time or energy to do anything major. A year later, we haven’t made any major updates and instead have focused on filling rooms with furniture, hanging pictures, and getting a feel for what work we would like to do.
I’d love to do some major work (like a full kitchen remodel), but we’re still not quite ready for that. Instead though, I’d love to put more effort into designing a few rooms, starting with the living room. I don’t have much of an eye for design, so I’m excited to be partnering with Havenly to help me to design some rooms!
As a Brand Ambassador I’ll be going through the design services, working with a personal designer to give our space a little more life. I’ll be sharing my experience along the way. If you’re interested in trying Havenly, you can use code shapinup for 25% off a mini or full package. More to come on all of this!
3. I’m Doing Invisalign
This is a random one, but I’m five weeks into Invisalign! I had wanted to do this for years and always had reasons not to. I had braces growing up but my teeth have since slightly shifted and it has bothered me for a while. It’s really not major, but still something I’d prefer to fix. Over the past 5 or so years we’ve moved frequently which was a main excuse I never did it. I never had a dentist I loved and not always knowing when or where we’d move to next made it hard to commit to. Also during pregnancy and postpartum my teeth and gums were sensitive, another reason I put it off. Oh and of course the pandemic.
So anyways, I finally went for it! I have around 5-10 more weeks ahead of me with treatment but I’ll share an update here for anyone interested. Not sure anyone cares about this, but there ya go.
4. I Might Want to Go to a Gym Again
This one isn’t a firm decision, but I’m definitely feeling a bit of workout-from-home fatigue. When we were in the height of the pandemic I felt very content with my at-home set up. It was hard to picture a time when I’d feel comfortable to go workout in a group setting. Plus, with little kids at home, having a Peloton and mini-home gym is just much easier. But two years in and I’m feeling it. I used to go to the gym almost every day and now haven’t stepped foot in one in a year.
I might be ready to return and am going to just take a look at what’s available near our home. Financially it doesn’t make the most sense, but socially and mentally I might need it. I’m really curious, have you gone back to an in-person gym setting?
5. I’m feeling Ready to Run
And one more fitness-related one here, since this was originally a fitness blog afterall. I haven’t run since giving birth to Ezra. Actually, I haven’t run since I was a couple of months pregnant with him. So yea, it’s been a while. Just like I’m missing the gym, I’m missing running too. I haven’t felt up for it physically but I’m ready to get there again.
Hoping to pop on here with more frequent posting. Check back in soon!
