Where I’ve been, a recap of our hike at Mount Tam and my class schedule for the fresh week ahead.
Oh boy, sorry I’ve been gone for over a week. Remember that goal of trying to be more consistent with my blogging? It’s still a challenge, and I’ll dive into that more later. But for now, a quick recap of where I’ve been. I flew east for family time/wedding things in Boston and Maryland. After three flights in five days, I’m back in the city and able to settle in for a few weeks…until it’s time to travel east again for the wedding. Four weeks to go!
Hiking Mount Tam
Even though weekends aren’t what they used to be since my schedule is not a typical M-F 9-5 and I do work on the weekends, I still savor this time as an opportunity to explore SF with MM. This past weekend, along with a visiting friend, we visited Mount Tamalpais, one of the most highly-recommended hiking areas nearby.
Mount Tam is about an hour north from where we live in the city, near Stinson Beach. There are tons of hikes to choose from on Mount Tam. Initially we were looking for Matt Davis Steep Ravine but ended up on one of the other Matt Davis hikes. I’m not quite sure how to navigate the various trails on Mount Tam, but will spend a little more time researching prior to our next trip out there (and there will be another!). Even though we didn’t find the hike we were looking for, the one we ended up on was absolutely gorgeous and challenging with the first half of the hike being almost exclusively uphill. It was worth it for the open views of Stinson Beach and for the solid workout.
After the challenging miles, we refueled with fresh fruit smoothies at Parkside Cafe at the bottom.
We also got to check out the Blue Angels flying over the city for Fleet Week! Six jets fly over the city doing tricks for a couple of hours throughout the weekend. We were lucky enough to catch the jets as we were driving over the Golden Gate Bridge on Saturday, then from a Nob Hill rooftop on Sunday.
The weekend was a mix of working, relaxation and exploration. And now, it’s on to the fresh week, and it’s a busy one. I’ve got a couple of exciting events on the agenda–an opening party at Sweetgreen (YES, finally in SF!) and an event with Bare Snacks (major yum) at SoulCycle.
Also this weekend I’ll be speaking at a special event at Avant-Barre, my favorite barre studio in the city. The wellness workshop will feature two workouts, lunch and a variety of speakers. You can still buy tickets, get em HERE.
