What’s Up This Weekend

This is the first weekend in a long time that I don’t have to run for 2+ hours, what a relief! My weekends for the past 6ish months have revolved around training, first for my half ironman and then immediately following that, for the marathon. While the long workouts only took up the morning hours of Saturday and sometimes also Sunday, it was a strain on the entire weekend. On Fridays I had to eat clean, (try) to avoid alcohol, get to bed at a reasonable hour and then set my alarm for a time way too early for the weekend. Oh and then after the workout was done, I was wiped for the rest of the day, and the exhaustion sometimes lasted the rest of the weekend.

But this weekend? Nope! No long runs, no 4 hour bike rides, no pre-dawn wakeup! 

What will I be doing instead? Well, it still revolves around working out because as happy as I am to have my two huge races behind me, you’ll still find me working up a sweat. I’m signed up for the Well+Good Fitness Biathlon tomorrow, anyone else going? I’m on team 1B and will be taking classes at Shadowbox and Yogamaya, two studios I haven’t yet explored. After the workouts there’s a party at the Dream hotel downtown.  It’s mostly sold out but there are a couple of class spots still available, check it out here. You can also sign up for the Chicago and Boston events coming in November.

I’m not sure if the workouts will be full force or lightened up because it’s a fitness event, but fortunately my soreness has finally gone away and my legs are working properly, just in time!

Also on the agenda is hopefully a chance to get out of the city on Sunday for a fall foliage hike.
