Fit Travel: What to Pack for Vacation Workouts

Traveling this fall? I am, I’ve got trips to DC, Chicago, Savannah and Michigan on the calendar and you know I can’t go away without tossing in some fitness along the way.

These trips are all long weekends and I won’t be checking luggage; suitcase space will be at premium. Everything I pack will need to be versatile, workable for fitness as well as sightseeing and other activities.

Here are my top packing tips to ensure you can workout while on vacation without overloading your luggage.

1. Look for versatile pieces that can be worn for workouts as well as out and about. Luxe yoga pants (when paired with the right accessories) are perfect for the flight and hotel hanging, as well as your workout. I’m happy to report that yoga pants are becoming an acceptable piece for daytime activities and I’m no stranger to taking a yoga class and heading straight to brunch. A cozy wrap (like the one I’m sporting from lucy) can be worn to and from workouts and layered for day and nighttime activities.

2. Find sporty yet cute sneakers. The shoes I’m wearing pair well with jeans for walking around, yet are just right for running and HIIT workouts. They are lightweight, should they need to be packed away.

3. Invest in items that dry quickly that you can wash and hang in your hotel bathroom. A lightweight basic tank can be worn for a workout, washed in the sink, and ready for lunch the next day.
