I’ve recently been shopping around to find the perfect running shoe. I had been wearing the same brand for years and a couple of months ago I started experiencing toe numbness and decided it was time to shop around and see what else is out there.
I look for a neutral shoe that is cushioned and feels light. I wish I could pick sneakers based on color and look but unfortunately you have to test out shoes for feel instead. Sometimes the stars align and you find a shoe that fits well, is comfortable AND is cute. We call that the Shoe Trifecta (no we don’t but let’s go with it).
I visited New York Running Co this week and came across these beauties:
Fresh Foam Zante Running Shoe, $100
I was instantly drawn to the super bright pair, although I do like the patterning of the gray and pink pair as well. I put them on for a quick spin through the store and the foamy-goodness of these shoes made them a winner (plus I loved the color & style- Shoe Trifecta in action!). The Zante was awarded Competitor Magazine’s “2015 Road Shoe of the Year” and is said to be “sleek, snug and dialed in for speed” (sounds like my kind of shoe!).
This morning it was unusually wintery in NYC so after my AM cycling class I hit the treadmill to get better acquainted with my new shoes. Do you guys know about Woodway Treadmills? At Equinox they have a few along with more standard treadmills and I’ve always avoided them, not really knowing what their deal was. Most people seem to avoid these because they are always free, but let me let you in on a little secret- these are amazing. These are the same high-end treadmills used at Mile High Run Club and after giving them a go at that studio I was hooked. They have a lighter cushion (or maybe it’s more rubbery? Not sure on the technicalities) on the belt so the impact is smoother and less intense on your muscles. If you need to do a long indoor run, I suggest giving these a try.
The combination of my new Zantes and the Woodway Treadmill gave me a super comfy run, like running on clouds (totally exaggerating but trust me, this was a bouncier, more comfy run than most!).
Hoping to take these cuties out for a run in the park soon! Have a great weekend everyone!
