The Pros of Protein

I’m excited to let you in on some news, I was selected to be a Premier Protein Ambassador! If you work out a lot and are looking for a healthy and fit balance, you know that protein is key. As I train for my upcoming Ironman 70.3 and the NYC Tri, proper nutrition is a must, and Premier Protein is now a part of that.

As an ambassador I’ll bring you information on protein, why you need it and how to get it, plus I’ll pass along reviews of my favorite Premier Protein products and recipes.

To kick this off, here my top 3 reasons that protein is a must for a balanced diet, especially when training:

  1. It sustains energy by slowly releasing energy over a long period of time to prevent energy dips throughout the day
  2. Protein gives you that full feeling, providing longer satisfacion (aka, less snacking!)
  3. Protein is essential for building lean muscle mass and assists in recovery after an intense workout

I’m trying out a variety of Premier Protein products and so far, my favorite discovery has been mixing some of the Vanilla Shake with my morning coffee, plus a sprinkling of chia seeds. It gives the coffee a little sweetness without actually adding sugar and it gets me my protein fix first thing in the AM before heading to the gym.
