24 Hours in LA

March 26, 2015

I LOVE traveling but this guy has been making it very bittersweet.

Last weekend I headed to San Jose for a work event that involved me wearing a prom dress:

I don’t know anyone in the San Jose area but I do know a ton of people in LA so I hopped on a Saturday night post-event flight to spend 24 hours in LA. My time was limited so I didn’t waste a second.

Saturday night was for dinner with some girlfriends at Superba Snack Bar, everything was really good, my favorite was the rainbow carrots. I got in late and was exhausted so that was it for Saturday. I stayed up catching up with my friends until about 1am and then my alarm went off EARLY, 7:15am to head out for a trail run. My friend Mike invited me on this run weeks ago and I had been iffy, it sounded great but I haven’t been running much, let alone a trail run. I figured I don’t have many opportunities for a mountainy trail run in CA so I might as well go for it.

I was SO happy I did. It was me, Mike, Josh and his friend Dan and we ran 7 miles, 3.5 of those being uphill. It was so challenging and my legs were feeling it but I actually felt much better than I expected. The views were a nice treat for this New Yorker.

By 10:15am I was showered and ready for the next activity, a stop at a farmer’s market.

I checked out the fresh fruit and veggies and bought two rose gold necklaces and the most deeeelish Paleo granola from CaveGirl Cupboard. There’s a good chance I’m going to sign up for this granola subscription, it is SO GOOD.
Next was brunch with 9 friends at Tavern, another very tasty meal. We sat in the back room that feels like it’s outside but is covered. Really enjoyed the vibe of this place. After brunch I went to my friend Sara’s house to meet her pup Wally (Ollie and him would be great friends if the entire country didn’t separate them) and wandered around a bit before making a quick stop at Pressed.

Finally I met up with my cousins and aunt, I don’t get to see them nearly enough! And I got to meet the newest addition to the family, such a cutie!

After that it was time to get to the airport for my redeye.

That my friends is how you get a lot done in 24 hours! Looking forward to another LA visit soon that’s maybe just a tad longer.
