While in Utah we kept to a solid eating schedule: hearty breakfast, light snacks, post-skiing treats followed by a delicious dinner. Eating on the mountain can get pricey but by combining cooking with eating out we didn’t go too overboard.
Each morning we had coffee, and cooked eggs with turkey sausage then grabbed our granola bars and headed to the mountain.
Because we didn’t get out skiing super early, we were content to have a snack along the way. There were a few exceptions like the day at Canyons when we happened upon a tasty smelling outdoor BBQ stop. How could we not give it a try? We shared a brisket sandwich, tots and a beer.
For one of our dinners out we headed to High West Distillery, a popular spot in Park City. So popular that we couldn’t even get a table the first time we stopped by. Unless you get there by 6pm on busy days, you can’t even get on the wait list. We learned our lesson and got there early the next night. The food is heavy but quite good, as was this oh-so-pretty cocktail, the High West Lemonade.
Matt opted for a whiskey flight…
Ok so I forgot to take pictures of all the food but it was good! These deviled eggs with candied jalapeno bacon were a stand out, as was the house pretzel and the bison cottage pie. As you might imagine, we left High West stuffed.
Our other stop in town was Cafe Terigo, this spot was good but not the most amazing meal ever. Everything was good but seemed a bit overpriced for something not that special. However, these baby onion rings were kinda amazing…
Our condo was only a 10 minute walk from downtown which was so perfect. The town is super cute, full of restaurants, boutiques and a few touristy shops as well.
Back at the condo we cooked up a steak dinner and a lots of nachos, per usual.
On our way out of Park City we spent a little time in Salt Lake City (40 mins from Park City). This town is gorgeous; it’s set among the most beautiful snow-capped mountains. We saw the temple square and stopped for a highly recommended (thanks Paul!) mexican dinner before getting on our redeye back to NYC. I didn’t think Utah would be a place known for mexican food but Red Iguana was awesome. There was an hour wait which gives you a hint of how good it is. My one complaint is that the portions were huge and obviously I ate a lot and then felt sick for my flight home, typical. Suppose that was my fault.
Park City has tons of restaurants, we only got a taste of what it has to offer. Guess that means I need to go back next winter 🙂
