My friend just gave me the heads up about an amazing event coming up and I wanted to share the news. On October 12th the Selamta Family Project is hosting a virtual 5k to raise funds the organziation which provides homes to orphaned children and marginalized women in Ethiopa.
Semata offers a sustainable model for change in Ethiopia where currently 1/3 of the population lives in extreme poverty and over 5 million kids have been orphaned by the AIDS crisis. This organization gives kids the chance to thrive by providing them with proper nutrition, healthcare, education and most importantly, a loving and stable home.
So how can we help? By signing up for the Oct 12 5K you’ll be supporting the kids and women of the Selamta Family Project. You can run or walk wherever you are and at the same time, all 128 kids at Selamta are particpating in the event by walking a 5K together in Ethiopia!
For $25 you can register for the event, funds that go towards this important group and you can also raise additional money as you work towards your 5K. For signing up you’ll get a free t-shirt that you can wear during your 5K to raise awareness.
Please sign up HERE and join me for a virtual 5k and follow the organziation on Tumblr at selamtafamily and on Instragram @selamtafamily. Let me know when you sign up and I look forward to virtually running with you on October 12!
