Happy National Running Day!

June 4, 2014

How will you be celebrating? I’m hoping to get out for a short run after work. Now seems like the perfect time to let you in on my favorite running gear and my favorite places to run!

Starting with gear: My closet is overflowing with workout stuff but these are my staples:

Shop the post: Lululemon Run Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve / Lululemon Sweat Cuffs / Nike Seasonal Featherlight Hat / Nike Pro Sports Bra / Asics Gel Nimbus 15 / C9 by Champion Color Block Tank / Sugoi Verve Short

As for location:  I’ve got a few tried and true routes through NYC. If I’m looking for a longer run I’ll do the full Central Park loop (6 miles) or if I’m not feeling up to the full loop and want to skip the giant hill in Harlem I’ll cut across at 102 street. If I want to involve stairs in my run I’ll do the lower loop of the park and hit up a few rounds of stair runs across the 72nd street transverse (have no clue what I’m talking about? Here’s a good guide to Central Park running).

I’m also a huge fan of runs along the West Side Highway. Often times living in this crazy city I forget that we’re surrounded by water and the views can be quite beautiful. If you’re looking to get away from the city feel for a few miles, head west and run along the water. There’s a solid set of stairs around 70th street that I love to do mid-run.

Where will you be running today?
