Friday is bike to work day and if you can get yourself a set of wheels and take off for the office, I highly suggest you join in! There are special events happening throughout the city, you can read about them HERE. Last year I biked to work via the Hudson River Greenway and stopped by 72nd street for free iced coffee and breakfast burritos, an excellent way to start your Friday! Not sure what they will have tomorrow but I’m definitely planning to check it out.
Once you’ve found the perfect bike (oh, you haven’t yet? check out my Schwinn guide) another important element to biking to work is finding the right bag. You can go for sporty or fashionable but whatever look you’re after, it’s got to be functional.
Here are my top picks, a wide range of prices and styles. Some bags work well for your ride to work and then transition into handbags, ideal if you’ve got out of the office meetings and don’t want to head out with a backpack. I’m also a huge fan of the Fablectics bag because it folds up into a tiny little pouch if you don’t want the backpack once you’re at work (plus it’s neon so you’ll be visible on your bike).
