Because I am! Yesterday a couple of my coworkers were talking about all the healthy things I post on Instagram and asking “how do you workout so much and eat healthy all the time??” Well, the answer is, I don’t. Sure, I might Instagram a bunch of healthy things and most of the time I am super healthy, but sometimes I over-indulge and often times these things don’t make it on to Instagram.

I’m not the best at portion control so I tend to be an all-or-nothing kinda eater. That’s the reason I’ve given up dairy. If you put a cheese plate in front of me I WILL eat the entire thing and hate myself. But if I say I’m not eating dairy I won’t even look twice at the plate.
While 80% of the time I can keep it together and stick to my healthy eating, the other 20% of the time is a whole different story. For example, yesterday was MM’s birthday and I knew we were going to go out to a big dinner, eat cake, drink and so on. So earlier in the day when there were free ice cream sandwiches at work, while normally I’d easily skip it, in my mind the day was already a wash with what I was expecting to eat for dinner so I just went for it, eating the ice cream. After an indulgent dinner I may or may not have come home and eaten a cookie for seriously no reason at all.

Needless to say, I woke up this morning feeling horrible and sluggish. Getting up and teaching a 6:30am spin class was pretty rough and now all I want to do is drink water and green juice all day.
Over-indulging every now and again is totally fine and I know that, but I also know that this all-or-nothing mentality probably isn’t the best approach to eating.
Do you view eating in a similar way? Do you have any tips to help me change my mindset?
