Half Marathon Countdown: 15 Days

September 28, 2012

I haven’t blogged too much about my half marathon training, but the race is right around the corner! Per usual, I made myself a pretty detailed schedule and have been doing an okay job of sticking to it. While I have skipped out on a quite a few training runs (sometimes there is just too much spin in one week to also run 3+ times), I’ve been keeping up with my long runs each week.

I haven’t been as intense about this training as I was for my March NYC half marathon and I think part of it is due to the fact that I don’t believe I can PR in the race. This course is fairly boring, it’s two loops around Central Park (where I run on regular basis), meaning it’s not only repetitive, but it’s also extremely hilly, way hillier than previous races. I know this is very self-defeatist of me, but I just don’t see myself getting a PR on such a hilly course. I plan to do the race to the best of my ability but likely won’t be pushing myself as hard as I normally would.

Either way, I’ve been decent about running/conditioning training. For those interested, here’s what I’ve been up to fitness-wise for the last month or so. Not great, not terrible.
