One of my favorite parts of competing in races is picking out my outfit! Super girly, I know, but workout clothes have recently become so stylish that I love a good excuse to indulge in a new workout outfit. When it comes to triathlon outfits, I will admit it is hard to look good. Starting with the wetsuit, how can you not feel like a beached whale? And beneath that you’ve got on extra tight spandex squeezing you in every which way. While a one-piece suit doesn’t seem like the most attractive choice, I decided to try it out for my latest triathlon and I was a big fan, and here’s why:
- Less to Remember: The list of items you need to complete a triathlon is very long, from your swim cap to your cycling shoes, if you forget one key item your race could be over before you even start. Wearing a one-piece suit is just one less thing you might forget to pack when racing far from home.
- Less Squeezing: Wearing a tight top and a tight shorts do quite a number squeezing together your midsection, in the most unflattering of ways. All along the course photographers are catching shots of you. By wearing a one piece your midsection looks much slimmer.
- Less Fidgeting: When exiting the water and pulling off your wet suit it takes extra energy to make sure your shorts aren’t coming off with your suit and your top isn’t hiked up too high. You’ve got enough on your mind in transition zone, your outfit should be as easy to deal with as possible. The one-piece is guaranteed to stay completely on, no tummy-baring situations for you!
- And lastly, wearing a one-piece makes you look extra legit! Even if it’s your first race and you have no idea what you’re doing, wearing a one piece will intimidate those around you and will give you a tiny extra boost of confidence.
I wore the RS Tri Suit by Sugoi. Hot pink and black is my go-to color combination for workout clothes. I highly recommend this suit. It’s super light weight, pretty flattering and stays in place from swim to run.
