Tapering Before a Race

My half marathon race is quickly approaching (11 days away!) and while my training schedule tells me I’m supposed to run 12 miles this Sunday (what??) I’m planning to begin my tapering, only doing shorter runs to ensure that my legs are nice and rested for the big day.

There are mixed opinions on tapering. Some training schedules show the biggest training run happening the week prior to the race, while others begin the tapering process 2 weeks before the race.

How do train during the two weeks leading up to a race?
