Bike MS

October 4, 2010

This Sunday I participated in the Bike MS event in Manhattan.  It felt great to raise money and ride for such an important cause.  I raised $450 and was part of a team that raised over $9,000!

The ride was off to a rocky start due to cold temperatures and extreme wind. Even though I came more prepared to this ride, I was still freezing! The ride started off through the Lincoln Tunnel (closed to traffic), which was really cool but also somewhat terrifying since I hate going fast (makes a lot of sense for a biker, right?). We then headed through the Palisades Interstate Park, which was hilly and beautiful with scenic views and some small waterfalls along the way.  Next we went through Englewood Cliffs, Alpine and Piermont (random but super cute town) and then returned to the city via the GW Bridge.  The route was 50 miles and after about mile 30 I was finally warm enough to feel my fingers.  Overall, a great experience and hope to do the ride again next year!
