Maine Getaway

August 20, 2012

Post Sharon Triathlon & R&D’s wedding it was time for a few days of relaxation in Maine. Obviously Sara and I weren’t going to completely relax, there were so many things we wanted to do! To ensure we wouldn’t miss out on any activities we’d be looking forward to, we decided to create a Decathlon Day, creating a 10-item to-do list. The weather called for rain later in the week so we shoved everything into one day, just in case!

  1. Morning Run: 6 miles, no biggie
  2. Learn to Stand Up Paddle Board. This item is on my 30 things to do under 30. We rented a board and we were surprised at how easy it was. I figured it would be a challenge to balance but nope, super easy. And fun!
  3. Workout on the Stand up Paddle Board. I found a bunch of exercises in Self Mag to do on the board for a challenging workout
  4. Kayak around the lake
  5. Jet Ski (so strenuous, I know!)
  6. Water Ski. I was happy to find out that after struggling to stand up last year I was suddenly able to get up and stay up on my first try.
  7. Swimming. Went for a little dip in the lake.
  8. Peddle boating around the lake
  9. Ladder Golf (a few rounds, lost em all)
  10. Eat Dinner. (I know, this one shouldn’t really count, but it was a long day!)

Other Maine Highlights:

This view, everyday

Lobster during a visit to Portland

Wearing boat shoes on an actual boat

Getting to the restaurant for dinner via boat
