Prepping for Thanksgiving

November 20, 2012

I’ve noticed that the gym this week is quite crowded, far more crowded than it’s been during the past month. My guess is people are trying to burn some extra calories in preparation for Thursday’s big meal (which on average is over 3,000 calories). I’m no exception to this. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I don’t really limit my eating during it so I always make sure to get in a solid pre-Thanksgiving dinner workout. This year, like a few years in the past I’ll be running the Bethesda Turkey Chase. The 6.2 mile run is just enough to not make me feel guilty when I eat to the point of a stomach ache later in the day.

I’m looking forward to my Thanksgiving tradition of running the race, going home to watch the parade while I eat endless pumpkin bread slathered in cream cheese, followed by baking a pie, then waiting impatiently for dinner.

What’s your fitness plan for Thanksgiving?
